Your Kiwi born hosts Fay and Paul can assist you with travel advice or suggest places to see during your visit to the South Island and also have a wealth of local history knowledge. They have also travelled widely overseas.

For visitors to the South Island no need to stay in expensive City accommodation or worry about parking your hire vehicle. Glentunnel is an easy 40 minutes from Christchurch Airport and Christchurch City. Ample free parking.

From our gate south, the Inland Scenic Highway (SH72) leads on to Geraldine, the roadside scenery is unbelievable. Then on to Tekapo thru the picturesque McKenzie Country, Mt Cook and Queenstown. Going north you can avoid Christchurch City by following the Inland Scenic Highway (SH72) over the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge, through Rangiora and at Amberley link up with the Main North Road (SH1). Should you wish to head to the magnificent West Coast over Arthurs Pass the turnoff at Homebush will lead you within minutes to reach the Main West Road (The-LoungeSH73).

From Christchurch to travel to Glentunnel, take the Main West Road (SH73) to Darfield, turn left at the Inland Scenic Highway (SH72) signboard.

Glentunnel is approximately 16 kilometres from Darfield. Glentunnel is situated in a river valley, between the Harper and the Malvern Hills. The nearby Selwyn River meanders through the valley winding its way down the Canterbury Plains.

Glentunnel is perfectly placed for the traveller on arrival to Canterbury, particularly if you want to clear Christchurch City quickly. Or on your last night for those looking for a direct route to Christchurch Airport and wishing to avoid the City, what better place to have a final comfortable last night but in our quality surroundings.
